Generational Planning & Release Management

Generational Planning & Release Management Team (GPRM) is a model for managing shared software through its lifecycle.  "Shared software" being that which is “owned” by one IT organization, but used by multiple client organizations, through its lifecycle.  For example: a software application may be “owned” by a corporate IT organization, or a business unit IT organizationt, but is used by multiple business units.

GPRM Purpose & Objectives

The purpose of the GPRM Model for shared software management is Steer and implement Program Management is to:

  • Provide a virtual solution space.
  • Create and influence information architecture.
  • Facilitate business process improvement.
  • Efficiently manage and release solutions.
  • Establish a consistent engagement model.

The objectives of the GPRM Model for shared software management are to:

  • Lower the system’s total cost of ownership (TCO) while providing required functionality for business processes.
  • Provide ease of engagement for clients.
  • Create an integrated solution set to maximize leverage, establish and maintain an information technology environment that is highly reliable, flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Define, recommend, and manage application strategies and standards.
  • Provide and maintain a validated environment.
  • Create a Program Management Model which those outside the “owning” IT organization might choose to adopt.

Engagement Structure

A GPRM engagement consists of a half-day workshop in which we train your team in the methodology and its use.  Because it is our intention to empower you, not to abandon you, you also have the option to retain us to provide on-going coaching and mentoring until you achieve organizational self-sufficiency with the methodology.
